UK trade group calls for blockchain to be included in the 'UK US Tech Bridge' cooperation framework

--

Several trade groups in the UK sent a letter to UK Business Secretary Peter Kyle on the eve of US President Trump's visit to the UK, urging the government to include blockchain technology as a core component of the "UK US Technology Bridge" in any technology innovation cooperation agreement signed with the US. The letter was jointly signed by organizations such as the UK Cryptocurrency Business Council, the Financial Industry Association of the UK, and the City of London, emphasizing the importance of distributed ledger technology for the economies of both countries. The letter pointed out that if digital assets are excluded from the cooperation framework, the UK may be marginalized in global financial standard setting, especially in the context of accelerated development in the Middle East and Asian countries. In addition, the letter also mentioned the strategic significance of stablecoins and asset tokenization for the economies of both countries, calling for coordinated action to avoid the risk of regulatory fragmentation and restricted market access for UK businesses.
