U.S. SEC and CFTC to Hold First Joint Roundtable in 14 Years
According to a report by Jinse Finance, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold a joint roundtable meeting today (September 29) at 1 PM at the SEC headquarters. This marks the first time in 14 years that the two agencies have jointly hosted such an event. This is the first joint initiative by the sister agencies in 14 years to coordinate regulatory frameworks for shared priorities such as cryptocurrencies and prediction markets. The last joint roundtable was held on August 1, 2011, focusing on cross-border issues in swap regulation. Additionally, this marks the first time that leaders of major Wall Street exchanges will sit down with their digital counterparts to jointly discuss market operations. For an industry long considered to be on the fringes, this represents a remarkable shift and a clear signal that cryptocurrencies now hold a place within the broader financial system.
