[The Number of Crypto Holders in the UK Drops to 4.5 Million, While Average Holdings Rise to Approximately $2,500]
The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) released the '2025 Crypto Asset Consumer Research,' which shows that the number of cryptocurrency holders in the UK has decreased from approximately 7 million to about 4.5 million, with the proportion of the adult population holding crypto dropping from 12% to 8%. However, the average holding per person has risen to approximately $2,500. About 21% of respondents hold assets valued between £1,001 and £5,000, while cryptocurrency awareness remains at 91%. Investments are primarily concentrated in Bitcoin and Ethereum, with holding rates of approximately 70% and 35%, respectively. The FCA has simultaneously launched a consultation on crypto regulatory rules under the new framework, and data from the Financial Times in October indicates that the total value of crypto assets held by UK residents is approximately $17.3 billion.
