[SoftBank Completes $40 Billion Funding Commitment to OpenAI] On December 30, according to CNBC, SoftBank has fully completed its $40 billion funding commitment to OpenAI. Previously, on April 1, OpenAI completed a $40 billion financing round led by SoftBank, with a post-investment valuation reaching $300 billion (including new capital). Other investors include Microsoft, Coatue, Altimeter, and Thrive, among others. OpenAI plans to allocate approximately $18 billion to its commitment to the Stargate program, as well as to advance AI research and expand its computing infrastructure. The financing terms stipulate that if OpenAI does not complete its restructuring into a for-profit entity by December 31, 2025, the financing amount could be reduced by up to $10 billion.
