Crusoe sells Wyoming data center project to Google
AI data center developer Crusoe has sold an unfinished data center project in southeastern Wyoming to Google. Google plans to invest $17 billion to take over and continue development; the specific acquisition price was not disclosed. The project, initially announced in 2025 by Crusoe and Blackstone-backed infrastructure company Tallgrass, was planned to have a final power capacity of 10 gigawatts. Google had considered becoming a customer for the project but decided to take it over due to concerns about construction costs and timelines. Crusoe is currently developing another data center for Google near Amarillo, Texas. The company has built data centers for companies such as Oracle, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta, and completed a $3.9 billion funding round in September of this year, at which time it was valued at approximately $30.9 billion.
