Montenegro court paves the way for Do Kwon's extradition to South Korea

--

According to Bloomberg, the Montenegrin Court of Appeals upheld the ruling that Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs Pte., should be deported back to his home country of South Korea, thereby rejecting the recommendation to send him to the United States. Thursday's ruling is the latest in a series of rulings in Montenegro, which has been facing dual demands from the United States and South Korea to extradite the notorious former cryptocurrency tycoon. The Podgorica Court issued a statement on its website on Thursday stating that no one has appealed the verdict. The verdict also upheld the expedited extradition procedure previously issued by another court in Montenegro. After the verdict was announced, Do Kwon's lawyer Goran Rodic responded to Bloomberg by stating that Montenegro will arrange extradition with the assistance of Interpol and expressed the hope that the extradition can be completed "as soon as possible".
