According to the Financial Times, Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Reform Party, has been accused of having a conflict of interest. He received a £ 5 million grant from cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne in 2024, and then the Reform Party proposed a cryptocurrency regulatory draft in May 2025, proposing to reduce the stamp duty on cryptocurrency transactions from 24% to 10%, and suggesting the establishment of a national Bitcoin reserve and a reduction in capital gains tax on cryptocurrency assets. Farage admitted to receiving grants, while the Reform Party stated that the policy has nothing to do with the donors. In addition, Harborne donated £ 120 million to the party last year, while crypto businessman Ben Delo donated £ 4 million this year. Farage is currently facing charges of violating the rules of the House of Commons, or being suspended from membership and triggering a by election.
