Iran warns ships not to cross the Strait of Hormuz without permission Golden Finance reported on May 6th that according to The Wall Street Journal, a ship attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday received a verbal warning from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy that the waterway is still under blockade. A Greek shipowner waiting for ships to pass through the strait received a recording warning in English to all ships in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman that any vessel approaching the strait without permission or following the designated route "will become a target of attack". Iranian state television reported that approximately 1500 ships are currently preparing to cross the Strait of Hormuz, and added that without permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, these ships will not be able to complete their voyage.
