Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have lifted restrictions on the use of their bases and airspace by the US military, paving the way for the possible resumption of the "Project Freedom" operation. This action aims to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Previously, restrictions were implemented due to concerns from Gulf countries about Iran's attacks and doubts about the capabilities of US defense allies in the region. The operation was suspended 36 hours later due to discussions between US President Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. US officials have stated that commercial vessels can once again pass through the mine clearing channels protected by the US Navy and Air Force.
