Russian State Duma proposes to pass criminal liability bill for illegal cryptocurrency mining
According to Bits.media, the State Construction and Legislation Committee of the Russian State Duma has recommended the first reading of the Criminal Liability Act for Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining. The bill proposes to add Article 171.6 of the Criminal Law, which imposes penalties including fines, forced labor, imprisonment, and confiscation of cryptocurrencies on unregistered mining and unlicensed mining services. For those whose income or loss exceeds 3.5 million rubles, a maximum fine of 1.5 million rubles or two years of income will be imposed; Those who commit crimes within a gang or earn more than 13 million rubles will be fined up to 2.5 million rubles or three years of income, and may be sentenced to up to five years in prison and additional fines.
