The US strike on Iran has caused a halt in shipping in the Strait of Hormuz

--

According to ship tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, there were no merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday morning after the United States launched its second round of strikes against Iran this week. Only six ships crossed in both directions on Wednesday, including a Türkiye Suezmax tanker. Iran claims that multiple ships attempted to enter the Persian Gulf without permission, with two intercepted, but signal interference and navigation system failures made it difficult to confirm shipping dynamics. Tehran stated that 26 ships have crossed the strait in the past 24 hours, possibly including small coastal vessels.
