Macron: France willing to support US Iran negotiations and propose escort operation

On June 1st, French President Macron stated on social media that France is willing to support the US Iran negotiations and proposed a multinational escort operation led by France and the UK to be deployed to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz after the US Iran agreement is reached. He stated that he had conveyed this proposal to US President Trump on May 31st and suggested that France could provide expertise and capabilities in the nuclear related part of the agreement.
