US China Military Delegation Talks in Hawaii to Discuss Sea and Air Security

The Chinese and American military delegations held a working group meeting on the 2026 bilateral maritime security consultation mechanism in Hawaii to discuss the current situation of maritime and air security, evaluate the implementation of relevant agreements since the 2025 meeting, and explore measures to improve the handling of maritime military security issues. The Chinese side reiterates its opposition to using freedom of navigation or overflight as a pretext to undermine sovereignty and security, condemns provocative actions, and states that it will uphold sovereignty and maritime rights in accordance with the law, while promoting regional peace and prosperity.
