According to NPR, the US Department of Justice is investigating former Congressman George Santos for alleged insider trading on the prediction market Kalshi. It is reported that Santos had posted a video claiming to attend before Trump's State of the Union address, but did not actually show up and bet in advance that he would not attend, profiting tens of thousands of dollars from it. Kalshi froze his account and transferred the case to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Ministry of Justice, both of which have launched investigations. Santos denies any knowledge of any investigation. He was previously sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for multiple charges, but due to Trump's reduced sentence, he only served four months.
