ApoBank economist: European Central Bank may raise interest rates to 2.5%, dropping to 2% by 2027
Bjoern Ohl from apoBank stated that the European Central Bank may raise interest rates by 0.25 percentage points this week, and then raise them to a deposit rate of 2.5% in September. He pointed out that the Iran war and rising energy prices have significantly worsened the inflation outlook in the eurozone. ApoBank expects deposit interest rates to drop in two steps to 2% in the first half of 2027, as the US Iran conflict may be resolved, the economy slows down, and inflation rates fall back to 2%.
