The US Department of Commerce plans to invest over $2 billion to support the construction of quantum computing infrastructure

According to CoinDesk, the US Department of Commerce has signed a letter of intent to invest over $2 billion in building quantum computer infrastructure for nine quantum computing companies. IBM will receive $1 billion to build a quantum level wafer fab, GlobalFoundries will receive $375 million, and the remaining funds will be allocated to seven quantum hardware companies.
