US federal judge rejects xAI's trade secret lawsuit against OpenAI

--

San Francisco federal judge Rita Lin dismissed xAI's trade secret lawsuit against OpenAI and ruled that xAI cannot sue again. The judge determined that xAI cannot prove that OpenAI instigated former xAI engineer Li Xuechen to leak confidential information about the Grok chatbot, and that interviewing job seekers about their past work experience is a common industry practice. OpenAI declares that Li Xuechen has not been employed and OpenAI has not obtained xAI secrets. On May 18th, a federal jury ruled against Musk in a lawsuit accusing OpenAI and Sam Altman of deviating from their non-profit intentions and seeking $150 billion in compensation.
