DefiLlama data shows that there were 83 cryptocurrency hacking attacks in the second quarter of 2026, setting a new historical high with a total loss of approximately $755.3 million, lower than the $35.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. KelpDAO lost $293 million and Drift Protocol lost $280 million, accounting for over three-quarters of the total losses. The cross chain bridge attack resulted in the theft of approximately $351 million. Humanity Protocol suffered a loss of $36 million, Aztec Connect suffered two attacks, each losing approximately $2.1 million, and Raydium suffered a $1.3 million attack in June.
