Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rises 81% in Q2, CJ Muse questions sustainability of AI infrastructure investment
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 81% in the second quarter, while the Nasdaq -100 rose 25% and the S&P 500 rose 14% during the same period. CJ Muse, Senior Managing Director and Technology Strategist at Cantor Fitzgerald, stated that the six-month surge was driven by significant investments in AI infrastructure, but investors are beginning to question its sustainability. CJ Muse is primarily concerned about whether hyperscale data center operators can sustain and increase their spending after 2026, but it does not expect the investment boom to end immediately.
