On July 9th, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced the official dissolution of the Protocol Support team, sparking widespread attention in the cryptocurrency community.
This team is mainly responsible for protocol coordination, EIP promotion, core developer meetings, and EPF plans, and is not a core development team. This adjustment is part of EF's organizational restructuring. The foundation has previously announced:
Layoffs of approximately 20%
Annual budget reduction of approximately 40%
Organizational restructuring into five core work clusters
Why disband?
EF hopes to shift from a "manager" to a "guardian", reduce centralized coordination, and allow more development work to be jointly driven by the community, research institutions, and developers, further practicing Ethereum's decentralized concept.
📉 What impact does it have on ETH?
If we look at the development philosophy of Ethereum, this is more like an active decentralization reform.
⚠️ There will be some adjustment costs in the short term, but the Ethereum core development and upgrade plan will not stop as a result.
✅ In the long run, it helps to enhance ecological autonomy and sustainable development.
