The plaintiff, ‘Noah Doe,’ is attempting to use legal proceedings to claim Bitcoin allegedly belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto. BPI argues that the claim that ‘long-term inactivity equals abandonment’ could pose a threat to long-term self-custody users; a public address does not equate to asset ownership, and holding Bitcoin for an extended period might simply be a HODL strategy. Previously, ‘John Doe 33’ denied any association with the address holding 5,000 BTC, and The Digital Chamber also submitted an amicus brief opposing the plaintiff’s claims.
