[Former Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy Impeded Investigation into Adam Iza Extortion Case, Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison] According to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice's Central District of California Prosecutor's Office, former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) deputy Scott Allen Simpkins was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined $10,000 on July 13 for obstructing a judicial investigation. Scott Allen Simpkins was employed by Adam Iza's security company and, in August 2021, falsely claimed to the FBI and federal prosecutors that he did not witness the transaction in which Adam Iza forced party planner R.C. to transfer $25,000. Adam Iza has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to violate rights, wire fraud, tax evasion, and alleged kidnapping and robbery involving Bitcoin.
