SpaceX's short selling ratio rises to 29%, with short positions reaching $25 billion
According to data from S3 Partners, approximately 185 million shares of SpaceX were short sold, accounting for about 29% of the outstanding shares, corresponding to a short position of approximately $25 billion. SpaceX's stock price has fallen by about 20% since July, and on Wednesday it fell below its IPO price of $135 for the first time. KeyBanc Capital Markets stated that SpaceX's publicly traded shares accounted for approximately 5% of its total share capital when it went public. Musk's approximately 42% stake in SpaceX is locked in until June 2027. SpaceX's 13th starship test flight is scheduled for Thursday.
