According to Bitcoin.com, lawmakers from both parties in the United States have proposed a bill that requires online sports betting and prediction market platforms to use facial scans for age verification. The proposal is led by Congressman Josh Gotthemer and jointly initiated by eight bipartisan lawmakers. Josh Gotthemer stated that the bill aims to prevent minors from using someone else's account to access gambling platforms. This technology estimates age by analyzing facial structure and does not store identity or biometric information. NIST evaluation shows that the average error of six age estimation algorithms is 3.1 years, and the error rate of female faces is higher than that of males. The complete text, implementing agency, penalty measures, effective date, and user questioning procedure of the bill have not yet been published.
