CNBC poll: 61% of Americans are pessimistic about the economic outlook, with most respondents dissatisfied with Trump's economic policies

--

A CNBC poll shows that 61% of Americans are pessimistic about the economic outlook, and 60% of respondents are dissatisfied with President Trump's handling of economic issues. The rising cost of living has forced consumers to cut back on expenses, with 47% of respondents reducing their purchases of essential items such as food and healthcare, and about two-thirds of consumers reducing non essential expenses such as dining. According to a study by Bain&Company and Nielsen IQ, grocery purchases in the United States decreased by 1.8% year-on-year in June. Kurt Grichel, the head of Bain&Company's US retail business, stated that a daily purchase of approximately $300 in 2019 now requires $400. Four fifths of American consumers are trying to reduce their expenses, and over a quarter are actively cutting back on food consumption.
