According to the Financial Times, Chinese regulatory authorities are considering tightening export controls on AI and semiconductor technology. The Ministry of Commerce discussed with Alibaba, ByteDance and Zhipu to limit the transfer of model training data to overseas and foreign users to download model weights, and asked for advice on prohibiting Qualcomm and TSMC from designing and producing advanced semiconductors based on Huawei, Alibaba and ByteDance. Currently, most of the proposals are still under discussion, and regulatory agencies are evaluating industry feedback.
