Coinbase released a report on the July 14th service interruption review, stating that the incident was caused by a critical network component misconfigured due to routine configuration updates, and the impact lasted for about 50 minutes. User funds were not affected. On July 14th at 20:34 (UTC+8), Coinbase deployed a configuration change to a shared production Kubernetes cluster, resulting in the unavailability of the Istio gateway and causing an interruption in inbound traffic. The affected services include retail transactions, deposit and withdrawal, Coinbase Card debit card transactions, Coinbase DEX on chain redemption, Coinbase Exchange and Prime institutional transfer settlement, and Coinbase Developer Platform services. The entrance network resumed at 21:20 (UTC+8), and the incident was relieved at 21:23 (UTC+8).
