Circle acquires IBM's blockchain patent portfolio, becoming the company with the largest patent holdings in the United States

Circle Internet Group announced the acquisition of the core assets of IBM's blockchain patent portfolio, which includes over 680 patent families and nearly 1000 granted patents, covering areas such as blockchain infrastructure technology, banking, financial services, insurance, enterprise infrastructure, supply chain verification, and secure cloud operations. After the acquisition, Circle has become the company with the largest number of blockchain patents in the United States. The expanded intellectual property will support the infrastructure construction of on chain products and intelligent financial tools such as USDC, Circle Payments Network, Arc, etc. Circle and IBM plan to explore more business cooperation opportunities.
