Crypto hackers lose over $1 billion in the first half of 2026, with Ethereum and Solana suffering the most severe damage

The Blockaid report shows that in the first half of 2026, the cryptocurrency industry suffered losses exceeding $1 billion, with a total of 212 security incidents, including a single KelpDAO attack resulting in a loss of $292 million. Ethereum and Solana suffered the largest losses, at $332 million and $326 million respectively. The number of high threshold attacks in the first half of 2026 is 3.4 times that of the entire year of 2025. The Ethereum incident was mainly driven by code vulnerabilities, with Solana's losses increasing from $127 million in 2025, and over 98% of the losses coming from key leaks, mainly involving the Drift Protocol and Step Finance incidents.
