According to CNBC, the attorneys general of 44 states in the United States wrote to the CFTC on Monday, stating that the agency has no authority to regulate sports related event contracts on prediction market platforms. The alliance led by Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson stated that the proposed rules exceed the CFTC's statutory powers and conflict with the Constitution, and should make it clear that sports betting is governed by state law. The attorneys general of Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, Missouri, and Texas did not sign the letter.
