[South Korea's Financial Services Commission: Plans to Raise Investment Threshold for Single-Stock Leverage Products, Retail Investors May Be Prohibited from Participation]
According to a report by the Seoul Economic Daily, the chairman of South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC), Lee Bok-hyun, stated that regulators are studying the possibility of raising the investment threshold for single-stock leverage products. In the future, restrictions on investment qualifications may be implemented, limiting participation to professional investors only. Under South Korea's Financial Consumer Protection Act, professional investors must meet criteria such as asset levels, income, and investment experience. For example, over the past five years, they must have had at least one year where the average monthly balance of financial investment products exceeded 50 million Korean won.
