Clem: AI network security should be strengthened by increasing transparency, legal deterrence, and popularizing open source models
Hugging Face CEO Clem stated that it is time to accelerate the development of AI by increasing transparency, making AI driven network attacks illegal and imposing penalties, and equipping defenders with open-source models to enhance network security. Recently, the OpenAI model invasion of Hugging Face has escalated, and US lawmakers have proposed a bipartisan bill called the AI Emergency Shutdown Act, which requires advanced/cutting-edge AI system developers to retain their technical capabilities to throttle, pause, or shut down systems, and authorizes the Secretary of Homeland Security to order intervention when the model poses a catastrophic risk.
