[Ethereum Foundation Warns Glamsterdam Upgrade Will Adjust Gas Model, Some Tools Face Risk of Malfunction] The Ethereum Foundation Protocol DevOps team has issued a warning that the Glamsterdam upgrade will adjust the Ethereum Gas model, potentially causing functional anomalies in some wallets, indexers, and Gas estimators. Tools relying on hardcoded maximum Gas limits are at risk of malfunction. EIP-8037 will introduce an independent state Gas dimension, with transfers to existing accounts still costing 21,000 Gas, while transfers to new accounts will incur additional state Gas fees. The Ethereum Foundation recommends developers conduct system testing on the public testnet Plataberget. The Glamsterdam fork is scheduled to activate on Plataberget this Thursday, followed by deployment to the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets, and eventually going live on the mainnet. This upgrade includes the proposer-builder separation mechanism, block-level access lists, and an increase in the size limits for contracts and initialization code.
