According to TechCrunch, robot startup Generalist has secured nearly $200 million in additional funding led by 8VC, bringing its post-money valuation to $3 billion. This funding extends the $400 million Series B round led by Radical Ventures in June, increasing the total amount for the round to $600 million. Generalist was founded in 2024, with a founding team that includes former Google DeepMind researcher Pete Florence, Andy Zeng, and former Boston Dynamics engineer Andrew Barry. The company is developing AI foundational models adaptable to various robots, with its latest Gen 1.5 model enabling robots to learn and complete new tasks through 3 to 12-second video demonstrations.
