According to data released by South Korean customs on Tuesday, after adjusting for differences in working days, South Korea's exports in August increased by 72.5% year-on-year, imports increased by 22.5%, and the trade surplus reached 34.7 billion US dollars. The unadjusted export growth rate was 68.7%, and the revised growth rate for July was 63%. Semiconductors are the main driving force behind South Korea's export growth. Data shows that external demand remains resilient, supporting the Bank of Korea to raise interest rates by 25 basis points for the second consecutive meeting last week.
