Eurozone inflation accelerates, with long-term bond yields in multiple European countries reaching multi-year highs

On September 1, inflation in the euro area accelerated to the highest level in nearly three years. The yield of French 10-year bonds reached 4.23%, the highest since 2008, the yield of German 10-year bonds reached 3.31%, the highest since 2011, the yield of Portuguese 10-year bonds reached 3.665%, the highest since 2023, the yield of Italian 10-year bonds reached 4.15%, the highest since 2024, the yield of British 10-year treasury bond reached 5.223%, the highest since June 2008, and the yield of British 30-year treasury bond rose to 5.88%, the highest since 1998.
