Crypto fraud mastermind Malone Lam pleads guilty, involving a total amount of $245 million
Singaporean suspect Malone Lam has pleaded guilty to a federal extortion conspiracy charge involving a total amount of $245 million. The prosecutor accuses Malone Lam of organizing a transnational social engineering network to steal encrypted assets through disguised customer service fraud, database intrusion, and hardware wallet theft. Evan Tangeman, an accomplice in the same case, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for money laundering in April this year. Malone Lam faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, and the sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 8th. (Source: The Block)
