Mexican authorities seize illegal cryptocurrency mining sites suspected of stealing electricity from hydroelectric power plants
Mexican authorities have seized an illegal cryptocurrency mining site in Trura, Puebla state, where 300 GPUs, 80 medium voltage terminals, and 8 satellite antennas were found. Authorities are investigating whether the site stole electricity from a nearby hydroelectric power plant. Mexican security analyst David Saucedo said that drug trafficking groups seem to have reached a new level of sophistication, and establishing such operations requires the support of technical expertise and financially strong groups.
