The US Treasury Department has added the Iranian cryptocurrency exchange BitBank to its sanctions list, accusing the exchange of being controlled by Iranian financier Babak Zanjani and used to pay for passage fees for ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as transferring hundreds of millions of dollars to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as part of the Operation Economic Outcast program.
