The US Treasury Department expanded the scale of treasury bond bond repurchase to US $6 billion, and the market questioned the financial pressure
The US Treasury Department will repurchase up to $6 billion in longer-term government bonds on Thursday, aimed at curbing rising borrowing costs. The maximum size of this repurchase is three times the $2 billion announced in early August. The yield on 30-year US Treasury bonds rose to 5.38% during trading. Besent stated that market prices are deviating from equilibrium levels. The International Institute of Finance (IIF) warns that intervention measures cannot address the structural factors driving debt growth. (Source: Bloomberg)
