According to interviews with 15 institutions in the Bitwise report, during the period of cryptocurrency price halving from October 2025 to April 2026, the largest institutional investors did not reduce their holdings, and many bought on dips. None of the interviewed institutions reduced their cryptocurrency allocation. All institutions holding cryptocurrency assets held Bitcoin, which was the first purchase, largest holding, and longest holding asset of most institutions. Institutions stated that they would only exit when their logic broke, and pure volatility would not shake. Bitwise expects that most institutions will hold cryptocurrency assets within five years.
