The Trump administration plans to announce a plan on Monday to relax restrictions on the use of red dyed diesel, allowing it to be used for road vehicles. Red dyed diesel is exempt from the federal consumption tax of 24 cents per gallon in the United States, and the increase in usage will lower retail diesel prices. Affected by the refining and transportation disruptions caused by the conflict between Russia and the Middle East, diesel prices have risen. AAA data shows that the average retail diesel price in the United States on Sunday was $6.32 per gallon, higher than $3.76 per gallon in February. The rising cost of diesel is putting pressure on farmers, truck drivers, and the logistics industry. This plan aims to reduce fuel costs before the November midterm elections.
