Waller: Inflation data supports September rate hike decision, future rate hike path depends on data
Federal Reserve Governor Waller stated that the Fed's September rate hike was the result of months of accumulated evidence, with core PCE rising 3% year-on-year in August above the 2% target, and policy will focus on inflation. Waller believes that the future path of interest rate hikes depends on data and there is no need for consecutive meetings to raise interest rates. The September forecast shows that out of 18 participants, 16 are expected to raise interest rates at least once this year, and 4 are expected to raise interest rates twice.
