Jeff Yan: If I were to build a product again, I’d focus on options. Hyperliquid Labs co-founder Jeff Yan (@chameleon_jeff) shared on October 7 at DAS Asia 2026 that a year ago, he wasn’t sure if options traders would eventually all shift to perpetual contracts, but now he believes the answer is no. Yan explained that while perpetual contracts already meet the needs of a large number of users, there are still some traders who feel that perpetuals alone cannot fully express their market views. Therefore, options and perpetuals are more like complementary products catering to different needs. He also mentioned that HIP-4 provides a direct pathway for building an options protocol on Hyperliquid. Source: Empire
