[G20 Financial Stability Board Releases Report, Warns of Stablecoin Redemption and Reserve Risks] The G20 Financial Stability Board has released a report stating that global stablecoins have not undergone stress testing during market crises, and the uneven development of regulatory frameworks across countries exacerbates redemption and reserve risks. The stablecoin market size has grown from approximately $206 billion at the beginning of 2025 to $306 billion, with most USD-pegged stablecoins being used for crypto investments and cross-border payments. The G20 Financial Stability Board highlighted that under a multi-issuer model, reserve assets held by subsidiaries in different jurisdictions could face delays in fund transfers to a single region during redemption surges, hindering emergency responses. The report also mentioned the mismatch between 24/7 stablecoin trading and the operating hours of underlying asset markets, as well as data gaps caused by the anonymity of crypto transactions. The G20 Financial Stability Board calls for enhanced cross-border information sharing, monitoring, and crisis contingency planning. (Source: CoinDesk)
