US House of Representatives proposes bill to revoke Russia's energy trading license and ban related investments

--

Gregory W. Meeks, the Democratic lead member of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, proposed the "Corrupt Russian Oil Trading Act," which aims to prohibit the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation from investing in Russia's energy sector, revoke the general license already issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and prohibit future issuance, while also demanding that the Trump administration impose sanctions on Russia's energy sector. Gregory W. Meeks stated that this deal provides Putin with millions of dollars, and Trump and Putin reached a deal for personal gain, and Congress must take action.
