European Central Bank (ECB) President Lagarde stated that the inflation rate in the eurozone was 3.8% in September, and it is expected that the related pressure will ease next year. Lagarde pointed out that energy shocks may cause inflation rates in the eurozone to remain above the ECB target until the first half of 2027, and a cautious policy response is still appropriate at present. The ECB is preparing a digital euro for daily retail payments and as a digital supplement to cash, which will promote innovation and competition in the retail payment field. The ECB has launched Pontes, allowing financial institutions to use central bank currency to settle wholesale tokenized asset transactions. The system initially provides core services and is expected to be fully implemented by 2028. (Source: European Central Bank)
