Westpac has announced that, effective December 1st, it will cap monthly payments made by customers to cryptocurrency exchanges at AU$10,000. This limit applies to all payments made to a customer's Westpac account via online banking, the Westpac app, and credit and debit cards, with no exemptions or higher limits. Westpac does not support payments to cryptocurrency exchanges at its branches, but transfers from exchanges to Westpac accounts are unaffected. Westpac states this move aims to combat fraud, citing data from the Australian National Fraud Centre that 46% of reported fraud losses last year involved cryptocurrencies.

As the US midterm elections enter their final stretch, investors are assessing the impact of changes in congressional control on financial markets and repricing policies in anticipation of the 2028 presidential election. Chris Grisanti, chief market strategist at MAI Capital Management, believes the Republicans have a strong chance of retaining the Senate, potentially leading to a brief stock market rebound. Rami Sarafa, CEO of Cordoba Advisory Partners, believes that if the Democrats expand their influence, healthcare policies may be adjusted, and the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers may face obstacles. JPMorgan's Center for Geopolitical Studies lists domestic policy gridlock, Trump's pursuit of a political legacy, and the start of the 2028 presidential campaign as key themes to watch after the midterm elections, with topics including Iran, the Middle East, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Latin America, and NATO.
