[Vitalik Advocates "Digital Minimalism," Shares Experiments in Social Media, Mobile Phone, and Web Use] Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a blog post titled "Digital Minimalism," proposing that in addition to physical minimalism, modern people need "digital minimalism." Digital minimalism refers to consciously choosing how to use digital technologies, rather than letting default algorithms and interfaces steal your attention. Vitalik shared three personal experiments. First, in the realm of social media; he stopped directly using the official X interface and instead used multi-client aggregation tools like Firefly. The main benefit was avoiding "algorithmic recommendations," reducing the repeated push of toxic content (such as extremist rhetoric and financial nihilism), resulting in a significantly better mindset. Second, regarding mobile data; he kept airplane mode enabled by default for 100 consecutive days (using only Wi-Fi) to improve location privacy and psychological space.
