Wu Jiali: The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission will launch an innovative channel to pilot tokenized gold ETFs.
At Hong Kong Fintech Week, Wu Jiali, Executive Director of the Investment Products Division of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), stated that the SFC will launch an Innovation Pathway, hoping to combine tokenized funds with digital currencies to improve liquidity and treasury management efficiency. Wu pointed out that the first batch of tokenized money market funds are already trading on licensed trading platforms, and tokenized gold ETFs may be the next pilot program. Currently, Hong Kong has 17 approved tokenized retail products, covering money market funds, gold products, and ETFs, with total assets under management reaching US$1.3 billion.
